Objective
The purpose of this lesson is for students to understand the purpose of a prologue in literature and to analyze the purpose of Lamb's prologue in this novel.
A prologue is a separate introductory section of a literary or musical work. Authors often use prologues to give extra information about the characters and to help anchor the text and introduce main themes. In the case of We are Water, Lamb's prologue introduces the theme of art and secrets and also introduces the reader to some of the key characters and their backstories.
