Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the relationship between Big Kit and Washington Black. From an early age, Big Kit takes Washington under her wing at Faith Plantation, where they are both slaves. Although Big Kit does not coddle Washington, she obviously tries to protect him from the inevitable brutality and pain all slaves suffer.
