Alternate ending.
Tolstoy wrote many drafts of this book before he was satisfied. His wife and daughters helped him by editing and rewriting it for him. Explore possible alternate endings perhaps as you would like to see the story go. Rewrite the story with your changes as a plot outline. How does your altered ending change the characters and the nature of the book? Are you happy with the changes? Why or why not? Share your ending(s) with the class and discuss which ones you like best as a group.
