From the very first chapter it becomes clear that there is a great deal of fantasy attached to the book. This is hinted at when Edmund and Lucy discuss Narnia, but the fantasy tone comes through when the children are literally placed inside a picture on the wall. This lesson will discuss the role of fantasy in the book.

What reasons might the author have for presenting such subject matter as morals and duty in a fantasy setting?
