Pirogues
Try building a model of a pirogue out of paper mache. Remember, it must have a flat bottom and must be able to balance and float evenly.
Mapping
On a topographical US map, trace the expedition's travels. Note the elevations they encountered, the distances they traveled over land, the places and rivers they named,and the shortcuts they could have taken. Locate the approximate sites of Indians settlements.
Famous Spots
Depending upon where you live in the US, you may be close to a national landmark, or even a location where Lewis & Clark passed through. If possible, visit that site and take photos. Research the story of the site and write a short essay illustrated with your photos, to share with the class.
