Objective
Chapter 1 focused on the early years in the part of Solomon's life. The pleasant events that took place in his life - as well as unpleasant ones - were discussed.The objective of this lesson is to review the pleasant and unpleasant events that took place in young Solomon's life, as well as to explore whether either type of event was likely to have influenced his choice in the type of literary tone that he used as an author to tell the story about his first 33 years.

Independent Assignment: Create lists of both the pleasant and unpleasant events that took place during the early years of Author Solomon Northrup's life.
Class Discussion: Share and compare lists of the pleasant events that took place in the early years of Author Solomon Northrup's life. Do the same with the unpleasant events lists.
