Objective
Objective: In Chapter 1, the author introduces characters that make up two distinct classes: the wealthy and the beggar class. The wealthy folks are represented by Magda's family and the poor by Gabriela. However, young Magda's curiosity about Gabriela leads to a solid friendship between the two young women. This lesson will explore the use of classes in this novel and how the barriers are broken.
