The San José Mine

This object is a symbol of the entire experience of confinement, isolation, and the extreme depths of human endurance. It represents the miners' world turned upside down, where they are cut off from the surface, surrounded by unyielding rock, and forced to confront their physical and emotional limits daily. An example is as the miners descend each day, they leave behind the warm embrace of sunlight, exchanging it for the cold, unyielding embrace of the earth.

This object is a symbol of the essence of hope and salvation. As it descends into the dark abyss and ascends with a rescued miner, it signifies not only the means of physical rescue but also the restoration of faith in the face of adversity.
