The book and film of Trainspotting were both major UK cultural artifacts of the early and mid 1990s, artifacts that captured the new Labour, proletarian movement of the time that became known as Cool Britannia. Spend a class listening to music from this time: Blur, Oasis, Portishead, Pulp, Snow Roses, and Radiohead. Look at the art of Damien Hirst, and discuss how these objects are in the same spirit as Trainspotting.
