• She is currently living in a shelter for homeless families with her mother Ma, her father Pop, her little brother Ray, and her little sister Leda.
• All five members of the family live together in one room.
• Thinking about her little brother Ray, Deja states,"He sleeps through anything. I never do. Even when we weren't living in one room, I heard Pop's nightmare groans" (1).
