Objective

In this Daily Lesson students will explore background information on the Japanese imperial family.

Since this story takes place mainly in Tokyo, as Izzy adjusts to being the newest part of an ancient dynasty, students will be well-served to have a basic understanding of the Japanese imperial family. This lesson introduces the real-life imperial family and its history. It also offers students some context for understanding the role of a monarchy in the modern world.
