Objective
The objective of this lesson is to have students critically examine the theme of personal identity found in Book 1: Chapter 2. Students will explore the internal conflicts faced by the protagonist, David, in considering a potential move away from his family home.

Class Discussion: How does David feel about inheriting his family home, and what is the significance of this inheritance in his life? What emotions does David experience when he learns about the marriage proposal, and why does he feel this way?
