Historical Timeline

Much is known about the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's. Create a dual time-line of one of the character's lives in this collection and a time-line of the backdrop of what was going on in the South at the same time. Then, write up a short analysis comparing / contrasting these sweeping historical events with the events of your individual character.

Costumes

Come to school dressed in the costume of one of the characters in this short story collection. Divide the class into groups of two teams who must guess which character each student on the other team is dressed as. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
