Lesson 1 (from Introduction, Chapters 1 - 4)
Objective
This lesson introduces students to the nonfiction book Thinking, Fast and Slow. Students will research the author, the book’s publication, and the main ideas presented in Daniel Kahneman’s work. Additionally, in groups, students will read the author’s Introduction and will assess and discuss the topics upon which the author focuses.
Lesson
Group Assignment: Assign students to groups of 3-4 each to read the Introduction to Thinking, Fast and Slow. During the reading, ask the members of each group to take notes on the topics introduced. After the reading, students should collaborate in developing an outline on the topics of the book and what they expect to learn in its study.
Research Activity: Take time in class to conduct research on the works, awards, and topics of concentration of Daniel Kahneman. Examine articles that feature the author, interviews with the author, and commentary about...
