• George Takei’s father, Takekuma, woke George and his brother Henry.
• He told them to dress quickly and wait while he finished packing.
• Armed soldiers came to the door, and George’s father asked for more time so he could help his family get ready.
• They gave him ten more minutes.
• Takekuma told the boys to go help their mother and sister, and then wait in the driveway.
• The boys wondered what was going on, but neither of them knew.
• When they go outside George’s mother, Fumiko was crying.
• The story shifted to 2014 when George was telling about that night at a TED Talk in Kyoto, Japan.
