Objective
The author writes about Poland’s location and history and how both of those things played a part in the German invasion of Poland during World War II. The objective of this lesson is to examine the geography and history of Poland and their importance to the events in the book.

Class Discussion: Where is Poland located? Where is Warsaw in Poland? What countries were involved in World War II? How did Poland’s location make it a target for invasion? What history did Poland have with Germany prior to the war? What was Poland’s history with Russia prior to the war? What was Poland’s history with the Jewish people?
Group Activity: Divide the class into small groups. Have each group research how Poland was involved in World War II and create a presentation about how their location and history affected their involvement...
