Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author’s background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the novel. Students will research where the author is from, how old she is and what other books or stories the author has published. Students will consider how this information might impact their reading.

Class Discussion: Who is the author of The Woman in the Purple Skirt? Where is she from? When was she born? What year was the novel published? How was this work received by the public? What other works has the author written? How might the author’s background influence your reading of the book?
