1. Why does Roz's crate arrive unharmed upon the island when the other four floating crates do not?

Since Roz's crate is the last to hit the shore, the broken contents of the crates and the robots cushion the impact of her crate against the rocks. Without their knowledge or intent, the other four robots have saved her 'life' by softening her collision with the rocks.

2. How does Roz become activated once her crate arrives on shore?

A group of otters notices the broken robot parts from the contents of the other crates glistening in the sun and they come to play with the shiny pieces of metal. Once they discover Roz's crate, they begin to play with the packing material inside and inadvertently press the button on the back of Roz's head that activates her. There is the noise of machinery and Roz opens her eyes, much to the otters' surprise.
