Objective
The White Tiger is the debut novel of Indian author Aravind Adiga. Set in contemporary India, the novel centers on the first-person narrative of Balram Halwai. The first chapter, “The First Night,” introduces Balram as the author of a letter to the Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, in the immediate aftermath of Balram hearing on the radio that Jiabao is coming to India. Objectives for this lesson include researching author Aravind Adiga, exploring the setting of contemporary Bangalore, and analyzing the narrative style of The White Tiger.
