In this section, the strained relationship Stephen has with both her parents is introduced in relation to her strange behavior. The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the differing relationships Stephen has with her parents and to discuss how these relationships might affect Stephen as she matures.

Lesson

1.) Class Activity: Create a list of adjectives that you believe define a "good" parent. Do you think either of Stephen's parents exhibit these characteristics?

2.) Class Activity: Compare the relationship Stephen has with her mother to the relationship she has with her father.

3.) Class Debate: Do you think Stephen's father has her best interest in mind by keeping the information he has learned about her from her mother?
