Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss what Julie learned in her life about fairness, and what she communicated about the unfairness of life. Julie experienced unfairness in her life. Being born blind and gaining only partial sight, she often missed out on experiences that most young people enjoyed.

Class Discussion: Why did Julie realize that her daughters might think that life was not fair? Why did Julie think people in the U.S. believed that life should be fair? Why did Julie believe that Mrs. Olson was correct when she said that life was not fair? Why did Julie believe expecting fairness in life was foolish? In what aspects of life did Julie especially believe it was foolish to expect fairness? When did Julie learn that life was not fair? What did she experience and at what age that showed her the unfairness...
