Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1-5)

Objective

Vince Flynn is the author of "The Third Option," as well as being a best-selling American author of political thrillers. This lesson will focus on the author and his biography.

Lesson

1) In Class Reading: Hand out copies of a short biography on Vince Flynn. Have the class read the biography and take notes in preparation to discuss it.

2) In Class Writing Assignment: Write 1 to 2 paragraphs about Vince Flynn and his accomplishments, based on what you have learned about him from the biography.

3) Class Discussion: Who is Vince Flynn? What are his most popular works? How is his writing affected by his life? How does his achievements affect his writing?

4) Homework: Write 1 to 2 paragraphs recording your expectations for the novel, based on the first 5 chapters that you have read thus far. (Note to teacher: Save these essays for a later lesson.)
