· In the Foreward written by Bryan Stevenson, an attorney, Stevenson wrote that Anthony Ray Hinton was released from prison on April 3, 2015, after spending almost 30 years in solitary confinement on Alabama’s death row.

· Hinton was one of the longest-serving condemned prisoners facing execution in American to be proven innocent and released.

· Stevenson wanted people to understand that in America people were “arrested, accused of something horrible, imprisoned, wrongly convicted” (xii) because they do not have the money to defend themselves.
