Draw a Historical Figure
Have students draw their interpretation of a historical figure from the narrative. Artistic ability is not important, but their drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the person, whether the person is fat or thin, bald, prim, or slovenly. What colors do the they wear?
News Clipping
Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the narrative and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why it relates to the narrative or people.
Video Series
Allow students the opportunity to view and discuss the video series, "The Story of English," created as an accompaniment to the text. Students should write a paper discussing their findings.
