When Jared finally hears Charles Atterley speak for the first time, he is upset by his message. This lesson will explore Jared's reason for being shaken by the lecture.

Lesson

1) Class discussion: How does Jared describe Charles and the first lecture he hears? Why does Jared say he is upset by Charles's message? What is the revelation he has? How does he feel about himself after hearing the lecture?

2) In-class writing: Write in your daily journal about the tone of Jared's entry when he is writing about Charless' message. What state of mind does he seem to be in?

3) Partner discussion: Discuss the matters close to Jared's life and work you think Jared could have been speaking about. What could have upset Jared so much? A spokesperson from each group should tell the class what the group...
