Objective
Elizabeth Kolbert is the author of "The Sixth Extinction." The aim of this lesson is to examine Elizabeth's life and writing and how she came to write the book.

Class Discussion: How did Elizabeth describe mankind or human beings? What did she say about the species ability to survive? What did she say was the result of human beings spreading all over the globe? Why did she choose certain places to go and investigate for her book? Why was it possible for her to go almost anywhere to get the information she needed?What two articles did Elizabeth read about frogs? Which article influenced her the most and why? Why did it seem that a sixth extinction was occurring? Why did Elizabeth decide to document that extinction?
Activity: Create a chart or poster that shows these things: books Elizabeth has written, any awards she won...
