Zane's "The Sex Chronicles: Shattering the Myth" presents many stories that become progressively more sexual and unacceptable socially. The first section entitled Wild present the most mild stories of the book. This lesson will discuss the first story, "First Night" and how it is a romantic story of love and care for their relationship that is unlike the majority of the other stories in Zane's book.

Divide the class into groups and discuss how "First Night" presents the couple's relationship as nothing, but special. Do you think Zane makes this the introductory story of her book because its mildness in sexuality? What does the couple traveling to a bed and breakfast suggest about their attitude towards their relationship? Do you think "First Night" is a socially acceptable story for the public, why or why not?
