Objective
The Scorch Trials is the second novel in James Dashner's popular dystopian young adult Maze Runner series. The novel picks up one day after the events in The Maze Runner, as Thomas, Teresa, and their fellow Gladers have just been rescued from The Maze and placed in a mysterious dormitory. In this lesson, students will research author James Dashner, review the characters and plot of The Maze Runner, and analyze and discuss the setting and narrative style in the first chapter of The Scorch Trials.
