Kate Moore masterfully employs foreshadowing at many points within the creation of The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women. One example of her use of the literary device of foreshadowing is present in the whole of the prologue. The entire prologue is devoted to telling the story of the scientist who had been lent a piece of radium by the Curies in service of his scientific lectures about the element.
