Trunk Packing

It is the early stage of the French effort to construct a canal through Panama. Consider yourself a young, patriotic, French engineer recently graduated and hired to work for the Compagnie Universelle. Make a listing of the items you would pack in your trunk to take with you to work there for a year. What sort of clothing and shoes will you take? Books? Other items?
