• In the Introduction, Wes Moore gives an overview about what he learned about another man named Wes Moore.
• In 2000, when the author had been named a Rhodes Scholar, he saw an article about a man with his same name, Wes Moore, who was involved in a jewelry store robbery, where the security guard was killed.
• For clarity in this study guide, the author will be referred to simply as "Wes," while the man with the same name who robbed the jewelry store will be referred to as "Moore."
• After Wes returned from Oxford, he still thought about the story.
