"The Neutronium Alchemist: Consolidation" is the second book in "The Night's Dawn Trilogy" by Peter Hamilton. Readers new to Hamilton will be learning of Lalonde and human body possession for the first time. However, readers who are well versed with Hamilton's first book in the trilogy will already know the history of Lalonde and the hero from the first book, Ralph Hiltch. By continuing his characters and plot lines throughout a number of novels, the author is challenged both by not introducing the character completely to a new reader, but also by maintaining consistency with his other works. This lesson will examine the benefits and challenges involved in writing a story's continuation.
