Objective

The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History is a nonfiction book by Robert M. Edsel which reveals the story of several individuals known as the “Monuments Men,” “a group of soldiers who served in the Western Allied military effort from 1943 until 1951” whose responsibility was to mitigate combat damage and preserve works of art. In this lesson, students will conduct research on author Robert M. Edsel and will analyze and discuss the “Main Characters” and “Author’s Note” in the opening of the book.
