Lesson
1) Library Research: Have students research Karen Cushman. Explore the other works she has written, as well as her personal background. Take a look at interviews and the author's website to gain insight on her writing and where "The Midwife's Apprentice" fits in with her other novels.
2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Cushman. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Cushman during their presentation.
