Objective

Finding out the cause of a medical mystery can be an exciting process or it can be frustrating for those who are trying to help a sick patient. Today's objective is to discuss the idea being a medical detective, what this means, and how it might be challenging.

Lesson

1. Have each student make a list of the people they think would be the best people in their lives to become medical detectives.

2. In smaller groups, have students discuss whether they think they could handle the role of a medical detective.

3. As a class, have the students discuss the problems with being a medical detective. What makes this job difficult? What makes this job easier? Does this job seem to be a necessary one? Or are some medical mysteries unable to be solved?

4. Homework: Have each student write about whether they think every illness should be cured...
