Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze O'Farrell's descriptions of Lucrezia's early life with her family, the de Medicis of Florence. Lucrezia is the fifth child of Cosimo, Duke of Tuscany, and Eleanora, and she is perceived as being unconventional, wild, and unruly. Students will analyze O'Farrell's tone and language as she develops Lucrezia's character in Part I. By the time Lucrezia is a young teenager, her parents have identified someone to marry her to for a match that is advantageous to the family.
