Huynh Quang Nhuong
He was born in 1946 to a rice farmer. Living in the highlands, he very much enjoyed hunting for birds' and golden eels and raiding otters' parties. Close proximity to death and his harsh environs did not seem to faze him. On the contrary, he spent most of his days carefree and happy.
Nhuong's Grandmother
She married a man who was, in contrast to her, weak and timid. Yet she stuck by him and even helped him develop the myth that he was an expert fighter.
Nhuong's Cousin
He was very adventurous and loved the outdoors and animals. He accompanied Nhuong on many of his outdoor adventures.
Hung
He once devised a clever plan of revenge on a crocodile that had been terrorizing boaters on the river.

He became part of a hunting party when he alerted them to the presence of a dangerous animal...
