Objective

Cults have been around for many years, not only in this country but in many other parts of the world. Many people are attracted to them, thinking they are a part of orthodox Christianity. That is why it is so important to understand what a cult is. The object of this lesson is to understand what a cult is.

Lesson

1. After a brief introduction to cults, divide the class into four or five equal groups, depending on the size of the class, and allow them to discuss that they know about cults. Have them write down what they know about cults and the names of any cults they can think of, without using the book.

2. Conduct a class discussion on the characteristics of cults and how they differ from mainstream Christianity.
