Poem
In the form of their choice, students should write a poem based on the book. Students can write from their perspective or that of a person from the book. Students should share their poem aloud with the class.

Students should imagine that they are a journalist covering a major conflict, the beginning of an organization, or an individual. Write an article on an event described and share your article with the class.
Collage
Create a collage of locations and people as described in the book. Students should put their collages on display in the classroom.
