Chapters 1, 2, and 3 cover the registration for and the first moments of the trip. Twain and his traveling companions are understandably excited about such a grand adventure. The purpose of this lesson is to explore the inception and initiation of the excursion in more detail.
Lesson
1.) Group discussion: Split the class into three or four groups, and have each group discuss the following: Why do you think Twain uses the advertisement as his introduction to the excursion?
