Dance
In the Innocent, Leonard and Maria learn to jive. Students should study the type of jiving that was popular in occupied Germany and learn a dance that would have been danced at that time.
Meal
Students should recreate the meal that Leonard and Maria have to celebrate their engagement and share their recipes with the class.
Floorplan
Based on the descriptions given in the book, students should come up with their own creative rendering of the floorplan or either Leonard or Maria's apartment.
Matching Game

Have students look through the novel and identify as many characters as they can find and create a matching game where the characters are matched with a brief description of them found in the book.
