The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman is a 1972 novel by the celebrated British author Angela Carter. The book, referred to as a theoretical fiction, explores themes of feminism, nature, reality and desire, the media, and human identity. Angela Carter taught in several universities, including Brown University in Rhode Island. In this lesson, students are introduced to the novel and will research and analyze Angela Carter's biography, works, style, and common themes.
