The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman is a 1972 novel by the celebrated British author Angela Carter. The book, referred to as a theoretical fiction, explores themes of feminism, nature, reality and desire, the media, and human identity. Angela Carter taught in several universities, including Brown University in Rhode Island.
