Sebastian

This character is the protagonist of the novel. He is a teenager who has been living a very sheltered life within the geodesic dome with his grandmother with whom he has lived since the age of five when both of his parents perished in a plane crash. He speaks robotically and is at first unfamiliar with any reference to do with popular culture due to his isolation from the rest of the world.

Nana

This character is the grandmother of the novel's protagonist. She ascribes to the teachings of Buckminster Fuller and claims to have been his mistress, though this fact is called into question by the end of the novel. She has a very strict and protective parenting style and earns money for the household by hosting tours of the geodesic dome.
