Write Your Own Aubade
Write an aubade of at least ten lines. Your poem should take place in the early morning and should be about love. Within these parameters, you are free to write about anything you like, as long is it is school-appropriate. Your poem can be silly or serious and can be in rhymed, metrical verse or in free verse.
Write a Metaphysical Poem
Write a metaphysical poem of at least ten lines. Your poem should be metrical (although you can be somewhat loose with meter, as the metaphysical poets tended to be) and should have a clear rhyme scheme (you may use slant rhyme for some of your rhymes.) Your poem should contain at least two conceits that compare an emotion to something unexpected but logical and should use clever word play, images, and allusions to convey meaning.
