Art

Students should choose a medium such as sculpture, painting, sketching or another form and create a representation of one of the people mentioned, such as Stalin, Krushchev, Masha, Solomon or another pertinent figure in "The Gates of November". When complete, students should share artwork with the class and discuss why this person was significant.

Journalist

Students should imagine that they are journalists living during the persecution by the KGB, World War II, the Six Day War or another major event described in "The Gates of November". Write an article on the event or person and share the article with the class. Students should also share why they chose the event or person and why it was significant to the history of the Russian Jews.

Students should write an obituary for one of the people mentioned in the book, such as Stalin, Hitler, Lenin, Solomon or another...
