Lesson 1 (from Introduction)
Objective
In the introduction, author C.S. Lewis discusses how he arrived at the decision to write about love, including organization of the idea, and the obstacles that sprung up along the way. The objective of this lesson is decisiveness.
Lesson
1) In-Class Discussion. "What is Decisiveness?" "Was Decisiveness Hard or Easy to Reach for the Author?" "Was the Author's Decision to Write About Love Made More on a Personal or Business ('Will This Subject Matter Sell?') Level?"
2) In-Class Listing Composition. Ask students to compile a listing of all possible factors that Lewis had to take into consideration in arriving at his decision to establish love as the focus of his book.
