Objective

The Chosen gather at daybreak to greet the tree at the first touch of sunrise, as they do every day as a part of their service.

The objective of this lesson is to gain a better understanding of the elves' commitment to the Ellcrys.

Lesson

1) Initiate a class discussion on the Ellcrys. What does the Ellcrys represent to the elves? Why is it considered an honor to serve?

2) Break the class into groups of two or three and have them discuss the actual ceremony of being chosen by the Ellcrys. How long is each term of service and what is implied within service to the Ellcrys?

3) In short essay form, explain the honor to the elves that are chosen. What makes service to the Ellcrys so special?
