Scene Dramatization
In groups of four of five, students dramatize and perform a 5-minute scene from the book.
The Quintessential Quilt
Have students design a quilt piece for chosen scenes from the book and have them sewn together.
Character Sculpture
Using whatever materials they wish, students sculpt as accurate a figure of one of the characters of the novel as they are able. The emphasis is on creativity and display of ideas and understanding rather than skill in sculpting.
Character Interview
Put students into pairs. Each pair chooses a character from the book and writes ten questions they might be asked in a televised interview along with loose answers appropriate for the character. They then act out this interview in front of the class with one student as the interviewer and the other student as the character.
