Objective
The objective of this lesson is to examine how Beauty and Patricia deal with packing and the past, and what is conveyed about the problem of the past. The Wileys are moving to Durban and have to pack their things. Patricia struggles with the past as she sorts through her belongings.

Class Discussion: Why does Beauty think there is too much to do before they leave? What does she see when she looks in the rooms around the house? Why is the meaning of the objects from the past unclear to Beauty? What things did Patricia intend to keep when they started packing? How does Patricia struggle to determine what is valuable and what is not? How were some of the things that were in terrible condition old and valuable? How does Beauty make a decision about what to take and what to throw away...
