Lesson 1 (from Part I (Pages 1 - 50))
Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the evolution of Vivek's and Osita's relationship in Part I of the book, when the cousins - who, as only children, are more like brothers for a time - move from being close family members and friends to not speaking. As Vivek and Osita move from childhood to adolescence, it becomes clear that Vivek is very different from many other young boys. Osita becomes more wary of Vivek until a very embarrassing and awkward incident pushes Osita to castigate Vivek and to cast him off.
Lesson
